Bolden Thief: TombStone

The storms surged as the rain poured down. Where the clouds hid the moon from the dwellers below of them as when Kegan had arrived upon the hideout. He stared upon it as it stood taller than his average size; he stopped the boat and climbed out from it. Taking a breath to calm himself down, he blinked slightly opening and closing his eyes. It had all came down to this somehow, he knew it himself as he equip his paw with a pistol something that the ElectroJolts had given to him. His heart beats wildly against his chest as his eyes risen from the grounds and onto of the opened window above. Below it was a stack of boxes, it seems although the Needles had purposely given him a heads up as he smirked to himself and walked straight to the boxes. One by one he climbed above, towards the top of the stack where his arm was reachable upon the window. There he grabbed hold onto the window and hoisted himself in only to find out that the entire room was shuttered to darkness. He gasped widening his eyes, but he dared not make a sound. As his breathing calmed his mind, he stepped down onto the top of the wall of boxes and glanced around. Eight serpents were stationed around the room, each of them having their own devilish equipments for their own uses. All of the serpents had high tech goggles around their foreheads; however those devices aren't able to track anyone down. Kegan put down his pistol and scanned his surroundings, keeping the element of surprise upon his side as he watched the patterns of every serpents around him.

The first serpent was upon the ruined broken boats, arming himself with a machine gun. His face was pointing towards the northern side as his tail flicker perhaps in impatience.  Next to him was the second serpent, hissing at the first. He was calm and collective as seen by his calmed breathing. His tail was stationary which means he's probably anticipating a movement from his enemy. Kegan gritting his fangs silently and turned his attention towards the opposing side. Three serpents were stationed around a corner of the room. They were surrounding a oil fire which burns into their faces before them; all three were also impatient at the first given that their anger towards one another. They don't compel with any other including of their teammates, Kegan saw this and thought perhaps that they were the weakest link. He chuckled to himself and readied his pistol, but his mind deviate his sights onto another question. "Where were the other three?" Curious he decided to withhold his pistol as he got up from the platform he was on. Taking two steps back, he allowed his speed to overcome him and once he reached upon the edge he jumped. Allowing the gravity to take his fall instead as he grabbed hold onto the edge of the opposing side and climbed up once again as he sighed hoping that none of the serpents were able to hear that. He scanned his surroundings once again, lowering himself so that his body was touching the ground. His breath was silent and quick as Kegan looked to interest. He only saw that the two serpents behind him took notice and began their search upon where they heard the noise. Grinning to himself, he crawled and made his way further out into the platform rooftops while he tries to find the remaining three, something that he had perhaps had missed.

Along the silence he moved himself further out until he had reached the edge of the platform. As his eyes lowered, searching for the remaining three serpents that he had missed along the way. His eyes were caught onto something above of him and he shifted his eyes curiously towards the light. A stack of windows sitting next to one another, a light was inside of them. Although, he could see clearly that there were a desk and a chair sitting onto one another. A coat hanger was seen inside the room. Kegan pulled himself up and frowned, he wondered if that would lead him further into the office. "Worth a try…" He thought silently to himself as he backtracked to a spot where the rooftop path would lead him into the windows before of him. He gritting his fangs and growled, cracking his knuckles as he dashes straight into the window. Crashing into it, he groaned and raised his paw upon his head. His eyes were closed and it seems though that his body was cut among the glass shards around him. Yet he himself he didn't care as his ears flicker hearing the rushing sounds of water flowing into his mind. His eyes shot opened and he lifted his head up from the grounds he was laying in. Kegan was surprise; he had never expected anything like it. As he lifted himself up glancing back onto the windows behind of him, he had noticed that the office wallpaper was a fluke just to get him curious.  He wondered if the eight serpents had already known where he was at right now, but he shook his head and growled to himself. Clutching his paws as his eyes shifted back to his front, he stepped forth gaining a better view of his surroundings. A red button sits in front of him waiting to be pressed. Ahead of the button was another doorway, perhaps leading him into another area and hopefully his teammates. In between of the two objects was a surrounding waterfall where twelve black holes gushed out their own waters from their mouths which poured down into the abyss below. He blinked slightly and sighed to himself as he turned his attention towards the red button; he pressed it and waited as the room started to shake.

Startled Kegan stumbled back and fell onto the grounds below of him while his eyes scanned his surroundings wondering of what is going on. With the ceiling cracking from above and bits of pieces falling down from the skies above, Kegan got up and gasped his eyes widening while he stepped back from the red button. Slightly, he wondered if he should retreat back into the first room and find another way around of the place, getting back into the main room in the center. But a part of him wanted to stay and see what would turn out in the end, whether he would be killed or not. It was hard to say after all. His feet planted upon the ground, he didn't move but his breathing was sharp. As his eyes tracked one of the larger rocks falling in front of him, smashing the center part of the cakewalk and send it down into the abyss below. Kegan growled and shook his head, deciding any longer would get him killed. He made his way towards the exit, however he was thrown back when he entered into it. Onto the floor he goes, as he gasped suddenly and exclaimed to himself. He was after all going to die here alone and without of his allies for support. He frowned and held his head down touching against the cold hard flooring while the rocks continued to fall down upon him for a few more moments, until it all disappeared. He heard silence, nothing demanded to be moved. The rocks had all fallen down onto the abyss below disappearing forever as he heard a faint splash below of him. Ignoring it, he rose to his feet and growled to himself. Shifting his eyes towards the opposing side of the catwalk, he waited for something to emerge. To explain everything that had happen upon the press of the button as he growled his paws clenched in fury as if he was furious.

The door opened and a big serpent emerged out of the gates. He was of blue scale serpent. He's also calm and collective as told of his voice. As he slithered forth to him, he stopped upon the edge of the broken center, raising his head up so their eyes meet upon the same time. He hissed calmly, Kegan growled at him and stepped forth. He raised his paws at him and exclaimed in an angry tone, "What happen to this place? Where are my teammates, Nex and She-" "I assure to you, Mr. Kegan that they are of great hands…" "Great hands?" Kegan repeated him to which he nodded in response. The serpent then continued the conversation with a question as his start, "What business do you attend here today, Mr. Kegan? We have no quarrel with you. Not for a-" "You napped my teammates and perhaps taken my adoptive son from me. I want them back and do not-" "I do not care what you demanded, they are in safe hands after all…" The serpent trailed finishing the conversation with a smile upon his face. His tail flickered in silence while his snaky eyes stared onto the weasel's face searching for an answer as to why he was here. Kegan growled once more and stepped forth so his feet were upon the edge of the broken cakewalk while he leaned forth and snarled, "I want them back; nothing more or le-" "You can have them back…" The serpent responded with a smile on his face, wagging his tail as his eyes stared onto him "In fact, before you invaded my base. We had thrown them into the abyss below. Now all we want you to do is make a choice." "Why would I want to make a choice with you, stealing serpent! Why would I want to jump into the pit where I would most likely die! Do you want me to fail?" "You only want to see your teammates, do you not?" He responded, Kegan thought for a moment. His anger still tinkering inside of him as he growled; his paws clenched. All he wanted was his teammates, but when his eyes shifted down into the pits below he frowned.

All he saw while the darkness with the sounds of water swirling underneath of them. He looked up towards the serpent who said nothing to him in response; but of the silent question that was upon his mind. Kegan knew that his teammates were below plunged into the water pits where they had perhaps died by drowning or had escaped. He breathed and closed his eyes, trying to clear his mind wondering the possibilities as his mind linger upon one thing. "You're lying." Kegan growled finally concluded while the serpent smiled and simply shakes his head, "No I am not. They are truly down there you see… All you have to do is-" "You're lying, they aren't down there after all. You're just trying to get me killed aren't you?" He snarled, the serpent blinked in confusement staring onto him with nothing more than a frown "Wha… what do you mean by me lying? I am telling the truth after all you know." He rasped, Kegan smirked at him and responded "All you're using is recordings sampled from my teammates after all. They're hiding behind of you aren't they, serpent?" The blue serpent responded with nothing and nodded without any hesitation as he stepped to the side, he responded to him with a smile "Well then, Mr. Kegan. You are at most proficient that deluding that we had in fact used recordings to try and trick you after all, well then I got nothing more to say but come over to the opposing side of the cakewalk I'll show you where we've been hiding them all these days." He responded, clapping his leafy paws while Kegan smirked at him and jumped over to the opposing side. For when he had arrived onto his side, the serpent took him off walking farther away from the broken catwalk behind of them with the recording sounds echoing among the walls of the abyss. Both of them exited without any hesitation and disappeared from the room and well into another room where Kegan had gasped.

The room was small; with only a handful of serpent bodyguards running the place. The edge of the room had a line of weird age computers where scripts was being scrolled down endlessly and without stopping. The room was also silver and a flickering light bulb screwed upon the top of the ceiling above the blue serpent and Kegan. "You like it?" The serpent grinned at him forcing him to frown but staggered hesitating quickly than he should have. In response, the serpent grinned and took him to one of the two doors on either side of the room. Next to which the serpent stabbed his paw upon a keypad. With a few security key codes coded into the keypad, the door opened and out came three trapped cages which all of them came up upon empty. Surprised, Kegan gasped as he turned whipping his head over to the serpent and growled angrily at him. "What did you do with my friends? Where are they being held?" "They aren't anywhere around the place, if that's what you're asking." The serpent responded but Kegan snarled at him, pushing him away before heading back onto the door behind of him. Where he opened the door and exited out from the room, returning himself into the catwalk. He ran straight to the broken center of the room and stopped, slowing himself down. He glanced down, maintaining his eyes onto the abyss below. For in response, he frowned and gripped his paws a bit. Snarling as he whipped his head around turning his head towards the serpent determined to kill him after what he had done to his friends. He drew in his black knife and walked forth slowly towards the serpent who backed off in silence. Kegan saw the fear in the serpent eyes; the cowardness behind that cool snivel attitude of his when he had met him. He was glad to have finally broken the serpent of his spirit and the lie that just uncovered himself. He drew near to the serpent and finally stopped having him cornered with nowhere to run. With his knife risen up, the serpent cried out "Stop!" He stopped and glared at him; the serpent having broken shivered upon the cold as he spoke lowering his voice so that only his ear listened to the sounds of his voice."You want to save your friends?" "What's the point…" Kegan responded, but the serpent stopped him there "They're safe alright… But it's your choice after all Kegan…" he grinned hissing to him pleasantly yet shaken "Plunder into the abyss. Your friends' voices awaits in the darkness…" Kegan growled and threw him away into the door where it shut and locked by itself. For Kegan turned his attention towards the broken bridge and having walked to the edge of it, he pondered what he should do.

Kegan finally reaches the outskirts of the enemy lines; however he has to passed the "Tests" That his enemy had given him. Will he be able to make it through these test and kill the enemy that haunted him for as long as he sleeps?

Interesting! I quite liked Kegan's character and the description of the lizards.

The biggest fault I saw was the changes between present and past tense. You've got plenty of spots when you're speaking one way and then swap to another, and it's rather jarring and throws the reader out of the story.

Other than that and a couple of spelling errors, this was a fun read :D
